Well helloooooooo.................today we are talking spinach.

I have already got a blog which was originally intended to tell the story of my weight loss journey but the other elements of my life have snook in. Wine, quizzes, book groups and cheesy music, plus lots about my adopted and beloved town of St Ives. So I thought I would do one devoted entirely to my Slimming World antics and some of the stuff I do in the kitchen - successful and not so successful!

People that are not on any form of diet - you may want to close this link now and if my other blog which will recount hilarious tales of shenanigans round Cornwall appeals more than keep an eye out on facebook and twitter and basically anywhere else I can self publicise.

Me in a nutshell - yo yo dieter for years but my heart will always belong to Slimming World, or Fat Club as I fondly refer to it. My last few years have consisted of thus -

2008 - my dad died and I got fatter

2009 - Lost 2 stone

2010 - put on 2.5 stone

2011 - Lost 4 stone

2012 - put on a stone but managed to keep the rest off

2013 - lost the plot - put on another stone and a half but rejoined Fat Club in September and got on it like a car bonnet

2014 - after 6 months of being extremely disciplined I got to target!

I have lost exactly 5 stone 5 and it realistically took me 3 years and 2 months. It hasn't been easy and I am not holding my breath that I will remain at this weight for ever but at the moment I am enjoying it. I love food , I like experimenting, I believe that you can adapt various popular diets to suit your own personal needs ( I nip and tweak a LOT ) but most importantly you still have to live.

My favourite veg is chips, I have made cakes with quinoa, I have binned stuff after one mouthful and other Fat Club recipes are eaten and enjoyed by the naturally slim members of my household. I have more 'syns' than I should, I eat white bread when I eat bread at all and eating a couple of sausage rolls the other week nearly made me faint. On the flip side - eating a cheeseburger the other week also nearly made me faint.

So on this blog I will keep you all up to date with what's going on and any little hints and helps if you are in the same boat as I am.

Today - is all about the spinach. I am attempting to make a pork and spinach curry and as I love pork and adore spinach, what's not to like?

IF it tastes nice I shall post the recipe tomorrow. If it doesn't then I shall post the recipe anyway as one man's meat is another man's poison and there may be someone out there that will try it and say 'yum'.
